Week in Review: Opposition to Home Rule Surfaces

Here are five of the most popular stories from the week of Jan. 16 to Jan. 20.

 

1. Clarendon Hills Group Takes Up Anti-Home-Rule Cause: Citizens for Clarendon Hills has says the village is using home rule as a "panacea" to avoid difficult fiscal decisions going forward.

2. Village Hosts Second Home Rule Informational Meeting: The format and content was much the same as the first meeting in November, though at Wednesday's meeting, Home Rule Research Committee members were asked to speak up.

3. National Punt, Pass & Kick Champ Hails from Hinsdale: Luke Adams could be spotted on national television last weekend when the 7-year-old was honored during an NFL playoff game for winning his age group at the well-known skills competition.

4. Park District to Expand, Improve Lions Park Pool: An amendment to the Clarendon Hills pool's special-use permit will allow it to expand and include several new features.

5. J. McLaughlin Brings New Style to Downtown Corner: The clothier opened its Hinsdale location on Dec. 10; it's been embraced by the community so far, according to its manager.
