Valentine's Day Celebrations Abound in Hinsdale and Clarendon Hills
Patch has rounded up a list of things to do this Valentine's Day weekend.
Valentine's Day is a favorite holiday for adults and kids alike. Here are some local places that will help you celebrate:
1. Couples Massage at Buke's, 151 Ann, Clarendon Hills
A massage is a treat any time of year, but Buke's is just the place to make a massage romantic. Purchase a gift certificate for a couples' massage, and enjoy a class of champagne with your valentine when you go to Buke's to redeem it (preferably on Valentine's Day!) Or if you're not the spa type yourself, you can always purchase a gift card for any treatment and let your sweetheart enjoy being pampered - champagne included.
2. "Happiness by the Pool" Art Exhibit at Hinsdale Public Library, 20 E. Maple, Hinsdale
Hinsdale native Samantha Bittman is showing her work in an exhibit that will run in the library through March 31. The exhibit will be displayed in the library's Quiet Reading Room, and patrons can enjoy it during regular library hours (9am - 9pm on Monday, February 14). After the exhibit, take a stroll through the Memorial Building grounds to enjoy the best view of Hinsdale with your valentine.
3. Dinner & Dessert at Zak's, 112 South Washington, Hinsdale
Zak's is located in downtown Hinsdale and is known for its burger, but a Valentine's Day dinner for two could include anything from their seared mussels appetizer to the filet mignon entree. Of course, a romantic dinner wouldn't be complete without a shared dessert accompanied by one of Zak's dessert wines. And if you're in the mood for ice cream, Coldstone Creamery is right next door!
4. Wine & a Show: All Wined Up and The Second City at Hinsdale Central on Feb. 12
Since Valentine's Day falls on a Monday this year, you might want to extend the celebration into the weekend before. A fun date night would be attending the performance by The Second City at Hinsdale Central. The famous comedy troupe will perform favorite sketches, as well as ones specific to our community's school. Tickets can be purchased here. There will be two performances, one at 6pm and one at 8pm, so if you go to the later one, you can swing by All Wined Up prior to the performance for a glass of wine at their bar.
5. Total Eclipse of the Heart at the Hinsdale Public Library, 20 East Maple, Hinsdale
Young Hinsdale and Clarendon Hills residents can celebrate Valentine's Day this coming weekend, too. The Hinsdale Public Library will host a pre-viewing party for 6-12 graders featuring cupcake decorating and other activities. Then the teens will be treated to a viewing of the "Twilight" series film, "Eclipse." The event will take place from 1:30pm - 4:30pm in the library's Large Meeting Room, and teens can sign up here.
