Clarendon Hills Police charged a Worth, IL, woman Tuesday with felony residential burglary in connection with an Aug. 30 incident during which she and an associate broke into a home in the 200 block of Oxford Avenue and stole two pieces of electronic equipment, Chief Ted Jenkins said.
Kamila Burczyc, 23, was charged after she was found to be involved in a Sept. 7 Downers Grove burglary with the same associate, Jenkins said. Prior to that, Clarendon Hills Police had identified Burczyc as a suspect when she was listed as the seller of the missing electronics equipment, one iPod and one camera, at an area pawnshop after the Clarendon Hills burglary.
Burczyc and 24-year-old Worth resident Michael A. Sauer, who was charged with the Downers Grove burglary but not the Clarendon Hills one, broke into the Oxford home around 10:15 a.m. Aug. 30 via a locked back door, police said. Jenkins said a witness saw two suspicious persons, one male and one female, leaving the home soon after.
The victims of the burglary left the serial numbers on the stolen items, which were tracked to a pawnshop in Stone Park. That shop’s records showed that Burczyc was the seller.
“That’s not enough to charge that person,” Jenkins said.
It wasn’t until Burczyc resurfaced in the Downers Grove burglary that Clarendon Hills Police had enough. She was charged with one count of felony residential burglary and transported to DuPage County Jail.
According to a press release from the Village of Clarendon Hills Tuesday afternoon, Burczyc and Sauer “are linked to several residential burglaries in a number of communities.”
The stolen property was successfully recovered.
