Steven Reynolds, the substitute teacher from unincorporated Hinsdale charged with criminal sexual abuse of a 17-year-old Carl Sandburg High School student, returns to court on Aug. 20 for a pre-sentencing report in front of Judge George Bakalis. It was announced at Reynolds' July 9 hearing that the prosecution had reached an agreement with Reynolds' lawyers and that Bakalis had given his approval. The details of the agreement, however, will not be released until after the pre-sentencing report. The two counts against Reynolds are Class 2 felonies, which can carry a sentence of three to seven years in prison.
The Hinsdale Central High School football team opens its 2012 regular season schedule on Aug. 24 at home against St. Charles North (2-7 in 2011), and plays its first road game of the season on Aug. 31 at Leyden (3-6). Both of those games begin at 7:30 p.m. The Red Devils finished 6-4 in 2011 and qualified for the 8A playoffs. They lost to Mount Carmel in the first round.
