Scrap Metal, Copper Missing

Police receive reports of missing materials.

 

Theft—Approximately $6,000 worth of scrap metal was reported missing from a Dumpster in the parking lot of Fuller's Car Wash, 109 W. Chicago Ave., Hinsdale. The theft is believed to have occurred sometime between 7 p.m. March 23 and 6:30 a.m. March 24.

Theft—A male victim reported that approximately 40 sections of copper pipe is missing from a home under construction on the 800 block of Taft Road. He told police that the theft occurred between 2 p.m. March 26 and 8 a.m. March 28. The copper is valued at $2,500.

Driving under the influence of alcohol—Darnell Sneed, 47, 8612 S. Elizabeth, Chicago was arrested at 12:09 a.m. March 27 on Ogden at County Line Road ad charged with DUI, DUI with a blood-alcohol content greater than .08 and speeding. Police stopped the suspect for speeding and gave him a field sobriety test, which police said he failed. Police also said a breath test indicated his blood alcohol content was greater than .08. Sneed was charged, ticketed and released to appear in court.

Deceptive practice—Land Rover, 300 E. Ogden Ave., Hinsdale, reported that it received a cashier's check on Feb. 14 that was later deemed fraudulent. The fraud was reported March 24. The transaction totaled $1,421.71.
