Roskam: State of the Union Address Will be 'Inauguration Speech 2.0'
Peter Roskam talks about President Barack Obama's State of the Union Address on CNBC.
U.S. Rep. Peter Roskam (R-IL) said he doesn't expect to see President Barack Obama embrace bipartisanship in his State of the Union address Tuesday night, according to CNBC.
He said he'd like to be surprised with some bipartisanship from Obama, but thinks the speech will be his "Inauguration Speech 2.0."
The following message is from Peter Roskam's office:
The President’s Illinois Worldview Isn’t Growing the Economy
“You take Illinois spending patterns and extrapolate that onto the U.S. economy and that’s where the president is proposing to lead us—to about $26 trillion in debt. I don’t think we’re going to hear a lot about how the president can grow the economy through the private sector and why unemployment is still at a nagging 7.9 percent. I think that's where the action is and what he should be talking about but I don't think that's what we'll be hearing.”
Democrats Still Want More New Revenues from Taxpayers
“Already they are going back into the old democrat muscle memory. And that is, let's go to the taxpayers yet again, even though, right at the end of December a huge boost in terms of new tax revenues is coming in with the tax hike.”
The State of the Union address will be 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12.

Roskam must be sleeping in Washington. President Obama has tried to compromise with the republicans every chance he gets. But Roskam and the rest of the republicans are still the party of "no". They will continue to vote against ANYTHING President Obama proposes. The republicans have been dividing this great country more and more everyday because of their hatred towards President Obama. Absolutely Pathetic.
Get over it. You lost in November. The republicans are on their way to the dustbin of history.

It's really hard for me to think you are real, however the Kardasians are a huge hit so I assume you are real. What part of, "there will be no negotiations" during the tax rate hike on all Americans did you miss when the President was referring to efforts by the house to address the spending that has led to catastrophic debt?

Both parties are against compromise. The Democrat Party of today is far more liberal than thirty or forty years ago, just as the Republican Party is more conservative than it was thirty or forty years ago.
By the same token, you don't see Barack Obama working to woo individual Republicans the way that Ronald Reagan wooed individual Democrats. When Reagan was trying to get the Kemp-Roth tax cut bill passed, he was having Democrats (and reluctant Republicans) over for lunch, cocktails, and dinner, as well as phone calls, to point out poll results from constituents.
Someone once joked that the deficit would increase, even if the tax bill failed, simplye because of the hospitality costs at the White House.
Perhaps if the President invited Rep. Roskam over for a couple of drinks while watching a Bulls or Blackhawks game, the two might start to see eye to eye on a few more issues.

Why did Marco Rubio and Mitch McConnell vote AGAINST the Violence Against Women Act? (VAWA). Anyone? Buehler? Buehler? Anyone??
The republicans must really hate women.

No. they don't. Republicans treat their women pretty good.
Julie Bowowski can explain it to you...suffice to say, like most liberal bills, the name of the bill is deceiving.
Now David, when did you stop beating your wife?

The GOP is fighting back on the renewal (and expansion) of the legislation because it offers services of gay victims of domestic violence. ... The only group the GOP hates more than the blacks are the gays ...

"The only group the GOP hates more than the blacks are the gays ..."
Mark, tell me why the 'violence against women act' should include gays? are you calling them women?
Mark, when did you stop beating your boyfriend? uh..don't answer. i think i know.

It's anti-domestic violence legislation, Dan. Gays are known to live together in domestic settings. They can even get married in some states!
Poking me with some sort of gay slur when I mention civil rights for homosexuals reminds me of a time -- only a handful of decades ago -- when conservatives threw a certain slur at whites who supported civil rights for black people. You know what I'm talking about, right Danny Boy?
But like I said, nowadays, the only group the GOP hates more than the blacks are gays.

Mark, conservatives have no problem with black people. I don't know what you're talking about. As a matter of fact, in the last year, the only people i hear calling black people names are....liberals (gasp). Yes, liberals are totally intolerant of open minded blacks who embrace conservatism. Many come to mind; Clarence Thomas, Thomas Sowell, Allen West, Herman Cain, Dr. Ben Carson... there was a black actress who was supporting Romney and she got all kinds of idiots giving her a hard time on Twitter.
Let's compare to how the Democrats treat black people. For good examples, you can look at Detroit, Chicago, Philadelphia, Norfolk, Camden, Oakland..and the list goes on. Democrat leadership in these places has kept the black people poor and uneducated, just the way the Democrats want them. They want them to remain loyal and low information voter.

the president is trotting out cap and trade again? no. way.
the leftists say that conservatives are 'anti-science'. I would offer that liberals lack common sense. And besides, isn't it obvious that this glob...climate change scheme is a redistribution of wealth scheme? How is it that these people who are so quick to connect the dots when it comes to the influence of corporations on politics are so unwilling to follow the money when it comes to global warming.
More liberal agenda aimed at the low information voter...which is pretty much Obama's bloc.

No, Santa Claus is not real either, but at least if you don't believe in him you are not classified as a neanderthal. Still not ready to join the climate cult, as hundreds of billions of years worth of data has not been digested yet.

BobB, there hasn't been any warming trend since 1996.
The prominent scientist who came up with the infamous hockey stick graph got caught asking his 'scientist' friends to "hide the decline".
BobB, have you received your Obama phone yet? You may be eligible.
