Police: Unknown Man Found Trespassing Inside Hinsdale Home
The unknown person was described as an Eastern European man around 40 years of age; he left the area via a bicycle upon the resident's entry.
The Hinsdale Police Department put out a press release Wednesday afternoon detailing what appears to have been a failed burglary attempt in the 300 block of West Hickory Street.
At approximately 10:30 a.m. a resident in that block came home to find a unknown man inside the residence.
"The suspect stated to the victim that he was at the wrong address, and then promptly left without incident," the release reads.
Police say the suspect was described as an Eastern European male approximately 40 years of age and six feet in height. He had a medium build, dark eyes, and a shaved head. He was wearing a turquoise t-shirt and denim cargo shorts, and left the area on a bicycle of unknown type or description.

Nothing appears to have been taken from the house.
"We believe that this was a burglary that was thwarted by the victim upon returning home," Deputy Chief Mark Wodka said.
Police believe the suspect entered the house through an unlocked entrance during a 30-minute timeframe that the home was unoccupied.
After Hinsdale Police put out the suspect's description to neighboring police departments, Wodka said, a man who had some of the same characteristics was detained by La Grange Police near the intersection of Ogden and Harlem avenues. Police did not determine him to be the alleged burglar, however, and he was released.
"The police department continues to urge residents to secure their residence while away, and to activate burglar alarm or surveillance devices if so equipped," the release reads. "Residents should report observing behavior that is unusual or suspicious by contacting the Hinsdale Police Department by calling 9-1-1 as soon as possible following its occurrence or as it is in-progress. Anybody who may have additional information regarding this incident should contact the Hinsdale Investigations Division at (630) 789-7080."

Hinsdale Police Department suggest "calling 9-1-1 as soon as possible following its occurrence or as it is in-progress." IF this intruder had attacked the homeowner, a lot of good that would do!!! Illinois, the ONLY state that does not allow law abiding citizens to carry firearms for legal self-defensive purposes!!! When seconds count ..... the police are only minutes away!
