Police: Late-Night Crackdown Results in 7 DUI Arrests, 108 Seatbelt Citations
There were also 36 speeding citations and three operating an uninsured motor vehicle citations handed out between Aug. 17 and Sept. 3.
The following is a release from the Hinsdale Police Department:
In an effort to save lives and reduce serious injuries, the Hinsdale Police Department, along with thousands of law enforcement agencies across the country, participated in an enforcement initiative to crackdown on drunk and unbelted drivers.
During the aggressive enforcement period that ran from Aug. 17 through Sept. 3, 108 citations were issued for failing to wear safety belts, 36 citations were issued for speeding, seven citations were issued for driving under the influence (DUI), three citations were issued for operating an uninsured motor vehicle, one citation was issued for a child passenger safety violation, one citation was issued for possession of cannabis, one citation was issued for possession of drug paraphernalia, one citation was issued for driving while license suspended and 45 citations were issued for other Illinois Vehicle Code violations.
The Hinsdale Police Department received a state grant from the Illinois Department of Transportation to participate in this effort. Grant funding allows the police department to assign additional officers for dedicated enforcement of the seat belt, driving under the influence and speed laws.
