Patch Picks: Five Ways to Celebrate Father's Day with Dad

Get out and about with your dad this weekend.

If you're looking for something fun to do with dad this weekend, Patch has got the perfect agenda for you:

1. Clarendon Hills Battle of the Bands at Daisy Days, 5 S. Prospect Rd., Clarendon Hills

Clarendon Hills' annual Daisy Days street festival kicks off this Friday, and there's plenty to do with Dad. From the food stands at the "Taste of Clarendon Hills" to Saturday's Pet Parade, Daisy Days offers something for everyone. If your dad is a music lover, make sure you take him to the Battle of the Bands. From 1:30 p.m.  to 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 18, local bands will compete on the Daisy Days Center Stage. The free event is sponsored by the Clarendon Hills Bank and the Chamber of Commerce; contact Mark Rediehs at (630) 887-0323 for more information. And if you want to make a night of it, stick around to listen to The Neverly Brothers play from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Check out the Daisy Days flyer for the festival's two-day schedule as well as ticket prices.

2. "Classics at the Center" Car Show, Burr Ridge Village Green

From 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, check out a collection of over 100 classic automobiles on display at the fourth annual “Classics at the Center” Classic Car Show. The Village of Burr Ridge has teamed up with Corvette Mike Midwest of Burr Ridge to host the event, which will make for the perfect afternoon for the car-loving dad. This free event will feature family-friendly entertainment, a disc jockey, door prizes and more. And if your dad has his own classic ride, he can enter the show for just $10; all car show entries will be eligible for the annual “People’s Choice” Award. Trophies will be presented to the top four vote-getters at the end of the evening. Call Corvette Mike’s Burr Ridge office at (630) 230-0441 or apply online to pre-register your car. For more information about the event, call the Burr Ridge Village Hall at (630) 654-8181.

3. Concert on the Green, Burr Ridge Village Green

Each Friday from June through August, the Village of Burr Ridge hosts an evening of live music in its outdoor concert series. This Friday from 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Burr Ridge Village Center, the Crown Vics, a 1950s rock-and-roll band, will be playing. This concert series was planned by the Burr Ridge Park District and Village of Burr Ridge Downtown Events Planning Committee, led by Village Trustee Maureen Wott, to offer residents seven weeks of free family-friendly entertainment. 4. Take a Swim at the Hinsdale Community Swimming Pool, 500 W. Hinsdale Ave., Hinsdale

Cool off this Sunday with a trip to the Hinsdale Pool. The pool opens for open swim at noon on Sundays, and resident family passes that are good through Sept. 5 can be purchased now for $315. Single-day admission for residents is $7 for children and $9 for adults. 5. Daisy Dash, Downtown Clarendon Hills

The 5k race starts at 8 a.m., and the fun run begins at 9 a.m. The race will begin and end on the south end of downtown Clarendon Hills (Park and Prospect avenues), and will be run south of the tracks through town.
