Hinsdale's Danny Thomson, who recently graduated from Hinsdale Central High School after a record-setting IHSA State Meet in February, finished his 400-meter freestyle heat in 3:57.29 at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials in Omaha Monday.
Thomson, who will swim next year at Stanford, did not qualify for Monday night's final. He entered the trials seeded 46th out of 136 400-free competitors with a qualifying time of 3:56.44. His time Monday was 35th best.
The 18-year-old is also scheduled to compete in the 1,500-meter freestyle prelims on Sunday. He is the No. 20 in that 96-swimmer event and his qualifying time for the 1,500-free was 15:28.65.
Thomson broke his own Illinois state record in the 500-yard freestyle last February at the IHSA State Meet. His time was 4:18.86.
