Man Charged With 3 Car Burglaries After Foot Chase With Cop: Police Blotter

Debit Card Fraud
A complainant from the 30 block of 58th Street reported at 9:48 p.m. that an unknown person had possession of the complainant's debit card and had made unauthorized purchases of $125 at two different truck stops, and several other pending charges of an unknown amount.
The complainant was reimbursed by his bank for the two charges and the pending charges, as well as the card, were canceled.
FRIDAY, OCT. 5
Man Caught, Charged With Car Burglaries
John E. Molenkamp, 26, of the 200 block of Home Avenue, Itasca, was arrested after a foot chase with police at 2:16 a.m. and charged with the burglary of three unlocked cars in the 100 block of Tuttle Avenue.
Police said an officer came upon Molenkamp after seeing the interior light on in a car Molenkamp was burglarizing. Molenkamp took off and the officer gave chase until Molenkamp fell while running in the 400 block of Chicago Avenue, where he was handcuffed and taken into custody.
Molenkamp was found to be in possession of several stolen items, including a GPS device, a cell phone and a pair of sunglasses. Police said all the items have been returned to their owners, except for a set of Husky socket wrenches. Anyone who is missing such a set should contact the Clarendon Hills Police Department.
Molenkamp was charged with three counts of burglary and resisting arrest. He was transported to DuPage County Jail.
Car Window Smashed
A complainant reported at 8:20 p.m. that the window of his or her minivan was smashed by someone while it was parked in the 400 block of Colfax Avenue.
