Kristi Gilbert: Did You Get Your Tickets Yet?

No, not for the gun show; I'm talking about the Hinsdale Junior Woman’s Club annual benefit.

The Hinsdale Junior Woman’s Club (HJWC) annual benefit is upon us!

This year’s theme, “Clubbin' for a Cause,” is sure to be the event of the year. The date is set for March 3 and will be taking place at the Hyatt Lodge in Oak Brook, a stone's throw for those of us in Clarendon Hills, Burr Ridge and Hinsdale.

If you’re not already familiar with HJWC, they are an organization of women from local communities that work year round, hosting events and doing charitable deeds all in an effort to raise money for their chosen organization. This year, like last year, the group’s fundraising dollars will directly impact the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana by creating a “home away from home” at Edwards Hospital in Naperville.

The “home away from home” is an area for the families of the children at RMH to relax and recoup after what was surely a difficult day. The space, located in the hospital, is approximately 1,800 square feet and is comprised of three bedrooms, a kitchenette, a resource area (complete with computer and Internet), a playroom for children and a communal space for the families to wind down in a “non-hospital setting” while still being near their child.

Not only have the women of HJWC been busy all year preparing meals for the community, visiting local retirement homes, collecting children’s toys for RMH and stuffed animals for a local hospital, but they have also found the time to plan an amazing benefit—all in hopes to bring in record numbers of donations that will directly fund the “home away from home” project.

The evening starts at 7 p.m. and goes until midnight. The theme, “Clubbin’ for a Cause,” will make you feel as if you’ve been whisked away to a swanky nightclub, surrounded by other club-goers, all in the spirit to dine, drink and dance your buns off while also raising money for a great cause.

For those that are looking to make the experience even swankier (is that even a word?), you can snag a VIP table! VIP tables seat up to 10 and include bottle-service as well as your very own personal wait staff. Not too shabby! VIP tables are $4,000 and are selling like hotcakes.

And of course, don’t forget to bring your wallet to bid on one of the many amazing packages in the silent auction. Local radio personality Eric Ferguson will emcee the event and add to the already amazing and fun atmosphere. It's perfect for a great night out, all in the name of a good cause.

If you’re at all like me, you appreciate having healthy children and the thought of them being ill is absolutely heart wrenching; I cannot even fathom having a sick child and that is part of the reason why I decided to join HJWC this year. To give back to those that are dealing with a sick child is the very least I can do to “pay it forward.” God forbid I ever have to see my child suffer. It certainly is nice to know that there are organizations out there, like HJWC, that are doing what they can to help others in need.

So get your tickets for what is sure to be the event of the year! I hope to see you there! You might even catch me doing "the sprinkler," the "shopping cart," or one of my many other ridiculous moves out on the dance floor. That, in and of itself, is worth the $125 ticket price!

For more information about the event and to purchase tickets, please visit the HJWC website. As mentioned, tickets are $125 per person and they’re selling quickly.
