Hinsdale Man Charged with Posession of Drug Equipment

Darien Police also connected the suspect to an earlier theft from parked truck.

Eric A. Martinez, 18, of the 600 block of The Lane in Hinsdale, was arrested by Darien Police July 2 around 4:20 a.m. in the Cass Avenue Jewel parking lot, police said. Martinez and his car reportedly matched the description of a suspect in a truck burglary that took place earlier that morning on the 7600 block of Brookhaven, police said.

The suspect in that burglary, dressed in all black, was seen rifling through the back of an unlocked truck, police said. He ran away when a neighbor yelled at him, according to the report, but a camera and spare change worth about $202 were taken from the truck.

Police didn’t find any items reported missing in the burglary in Martinez’s car, according to the report. The police canine searched Martinez’s car and found a marijuana pipe, according to the report. Martinez was charged with possession of drug equipment, police said. He was given an Aug. 2 court date.

"Drug equipment"? Give me a freaking break. It's the same harmless one-hitter those cops use at home (or at work). Give him his pipe back, apologize, send him a gift card or something and hope he doesn't sue. Just because he had a pipe doesn't prove he had a damned thing to do with any truck burglary-- I'm talking to you, too, Hinsdale-Clarendon Hills Patch, and take this kid's photo down. He didn't do anything. I hope he sues the pants off you, too. Your marijuana paranoia is embarrassing.

Nah, stoner. He probably did burglarize the truck. You see, drugged out losers like him, and you, need money for their weed. And, as I'm sure you know, stoners don't work, so they have to get their money by stealing from those who do work. So, while you draft your soon-to-be-dismissed lawsuit, the police are obtaining additional evidence and a confession from soon-to-be-convict, Mr. Martinez. Thanks for playing.

WOW Stick. R U A mall cop? U sound pretty tough on a kid locked up for a weed pipe. It also sounds like you have the inside scoop and an agenda. That's cool brother. I also have an inside scoop. See you in court, no not criminal court. We'll see how you hold up in civil court. Is it true this kid told you he was off his medication and you didn't offer medical service? Has that service now been offered and documented in county? Hmmm. I don't know if your street hardened senior officers taught you this, but civil court it is quite different than criminal court. Own any property? Hope so. LMAO "Mr. Martinez"? Ohhh am I going to enjoy this.

Yours,
Not easily dismissed.

Hey Nemo, you are really amusing. You seem to be under the impression that I am a cop, but I am not. It is stupid people doing dumbs things like Eric up there that keeps the police employed. But you can defend the loser if you like. The first post incensed me because this generation doesn't take responsibility for anything they do. Instead they blame everyone else for their mistakes. This pot-head needs to be taught a lesson, so that maybe he can contribute to society instead of being a parasite and draining my tax dollars. I hope he does for everyone's sake. You want to sue the police and media for defamation of character or slander? Please spend your money and help local attorneys. They'll gladly take your money. If there's enough evidence, Eric should be charged with burglary. If there isn't, then he shouldn't. It's that simple. But reporting on a police investigation isn't slander. And police following a lead isn't defamation of character. It's everyone doing their jobs, trying to prevent criminals from stealing our hard-earned property. Now, if Eric needs medication, it is indeed important that he gets it. But not having his medication is no excuse for being an irresponsible stoner. Stop making excuses. Why don't you and Eric take responsibility for yourselves, and not blame the police for your problems. You may need them someday.
