Hinsdale Central Teen Competes for $75,000 on 'Jeopardy!'

Sophomore Lindsey Thiesfeld is on the Sony Pictures television lot Monday and Tuesday to tape the show.

Lindsey Thiesfeld, a sophomore at Hinsdale Central High School from Clarendon Hills, Ill., is among 15 players that were selected to compete in this year's "Jeopardy!" Teen Tournament.

"I couldn't believe it. There are so many worthy people who try out.  It feels like a dream come true," said Thiesfeld.

Thiesfeld will be competing for the grand prize of $75,000.  The second place winner receives a minimum of $50,000, and the third place winner receives a minimum of $25,000. Semifinalists receive $10,000, and contestants eliminated in the first round receive $5,000.

The episodes are being taped on the Sony Pictures Television lot in Culver City, Calif., Dec. 6-7.  Thiesfeld said she would like to use the money she earns towards college, travelling and buying a puppy.

Thiesfeld was more excited than nervous about the event.

"I can't wait to meet the other contestants," Thiesfeld said.  "I'm also really excited for the television makeup and hair process."

The tournament will air nationally starting Thursday, Feb. 17 through Tuesday, March 2.
