While the elephant (and donkey) in the room this Election Day is the presidential race, people are also heading to the polls to vote for federal and state representation, as well as local referenda.
We've got a roundup of results for races affecting the Hinsdale and Clarendon Hills area, including:
GENERAL ASSEMBLY
24th Senate: Kirk Dillard (R) vs. A. Ghani (D)
REFERENDA
Electric Aggregation: Shall the Village of Clarendon Hills have the authority to arrange for the supply of electricity for its residential and small commercial retail customers who have not opted out of such program?
DuPage County: Should Illinois law permit an individual to hold two or more public elected offices simultaneously?
State Constitutional Amendment: Also on the ballot is an amendment to the state constitution that would require a three-fifths majority for any government body to change its pension system. Both conservative and liberal lobbying groups have lined up against this amendment, saying it's bad policy and doesn't address the problems with the state's pension burdens.
CONGRESS
5th District: Mike Quigley (D) vs. Dan Schmitt (R)
6th District: Peter Roskam (R) vs. Leslie Coolidge (D)
County Board RACES
DuPage County Board, District 2
DuPage County Board, District 3
- Sharon E. Bryant (D)
- John Curran (R)
- Brian Krajewski (R)
- Gary Grasso (R)

Rep. Quigley is quite responsive to his constituents. The bridge over the BNSF could get higher priority funding if the residents request it.

Us Republicans have to face the facts that saying we will keep you safe from corruption of the Democrats in Cook County is no longer a valid agruement when you see the millions of our tax dollars missing from the Housing Authority, Water Commission and now the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County. All these agencies are controlled by an overwhelming if not total Republican majority! To not lose control they will need to be more open to the input of citizens and not treat them like Dewey Pierotti does at the Forest Preserve meetings: http://www.chicagonow.com/chicagoland-outdoors/2012/09/trouble-in-the-forest-fbi-looks-into-dupage-preserve-scandal-district-president-goes-on-angry-tirade/#comment-5
