$6-10K in Tools Stolen From Burglarized Home: Police Blotter

SUNDAY, NOV. 11

Thousands in Construction Equipment Missing

A burglar entered a home under renovation in the 800 block of South Jackson Street and stole $6,000 to $10,000 worth of tools between 10 p.m. Saturday and 7:45 a.m. Sunday.

The stolen tools, which police said belong to the homeowner, include a nail gun, electric stapler, grinder, sawzall, router blades, ladders and scaffolding. Police have only a partial list at this time. The homeowner is creating a comprehensive list.

There were no signs of forced entry to the home. At this time, the homeowner has not told police of any persons who had authorized access to the home during the above timeframe.

THURSDAY, NOV. 8

Pet Salon Tools Stolen

Someone stole $500 worth of clippers, shears and other tools from the pet spa Velvet Touch, 110 Chestnut St., between 3 p.m. Nov. 6 and 12 p.m. Nov. 8.

TUESDAY, NOV. 6

Ladder Taken from Open Garage

Someone entered an open garage in the 700 block of south Bodin Street and stole a 6-foot wooden ladder between 9 p.m. Nov. 5 and 9 a.m. Nov. 6. The value of the ladder is unknown.

Credit Card Used After Theft

Someone took a Kramer Foods shopper’s wallet from her purse between 3:45 p.m. and 4:30 p.m., and successfully used a Chase credit card that was inside at a Downers Grove retail store. Police said the thief unsuccessfully attempted to use the card at another store in Oakbrook Center, but the bank had already canceled it. 

Resident Reports PayPal Fraud 

Someone made six eBay purchases worth a combined $1,072 using a PayPal account opened fraudulently with the identity information of a resident from the 900 block of South County Line Road.

The transactions took place between 12:01 a.m. Oct. 30 and 11:59 p.m. Nov. 2. The incident was reported on Nov. 8.
