Police Investigating Burglary, 2 Attempted Break-ins in Hinsdale
The Hinsdale Police Department hopes residents in the area who have video surveillance systems will come forward.
The Hinsdale Police Department is investigating a residential burglary that took place in the 200 block of East Hickory Street Friday night between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m., according to a police department release sent out Saturday.
"Forced entry was made into the residence through a rear sliding door," the release reads. "Various pieces of jewelry were taken from a bedroom within the home."
The release also detailed two attempted break-ins that took place in the same area last week. The first was reported in the 500 block of North County Line Road between 5:45 p.m. and 7:15 p.m. Wednesday. Though there were pry marks on a rear door indicating a break-in attempt, police said it appeared no entry had been made and ntohing was taken.
The second attempted break-in took place in the 400 block of East Hickory Street between 7 p.m. Wednesday and 7 a.m. Thursday. A screen had been removed from an exterior window, and the window pane had been shattered, but it appeared no entry was made.
"Due to the close proximity of these burglaries and their similar timeframes, they are believed to be related and potentially committed by the same suspects," the release reads. "A police canine search tracked the offender(s) several blocks away from where the burglary had occurred, but the suspects were not located. Residents in the area who may have any video surveillance footage from a private residential video surveillance system in the area are encouraged to contact the Investigations Division at (630) 789-7070. Home surveillance videos have aided investigators in previous investigations and increase the likelihood of identifying and apprehending burglary suspects."
