This August will be particularly hot in Hinsdale when BraveHearts Therapeutic Riding & Educational Center hosts its annual fundraiser with special guest, friend and supporter, actress Betty White. The event will take place on Saturday, Aug. 18, at Ruth Lake Country Club.
This full-fledged night of red hot fun will applaud and support the efforts of BraveHearts Therapeutic Riding and honor longtime supporter and animal lover Betty White. The evening will also feature live and silent auctions, as well as live entertainment. Tickets to the event are $175 and can be purchased through the BraveHearts website at www.braveheartsriding.org.
The seven-time Emmy-award winner is best known for her roles as Sue Ann Nivens in “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” and Rose Nylund in “The Golden Girls.” She was also a frequent celebrity guest on game shows such as “Password,” “Match Game” and “Hollywood Squares.”
Her fan base continues to grow with the popularity of her 2010 Super Bowl commercial and hosting of Saturday Night Live. She is currently starring as Elka in the TVLand sitcom “Hot in Cleveland”. As if that’s not enough, Betty is also the star and executive producer of “Off Their Rockers” on NBC.
Ms. White is equally well known for her tireless efforts in support of animal health and welfare and is currently the proud sponsor of one of the therapy horses at BraveHearts, named “Baby".
BraveHearts Therapeutic Riding & Educational Center has been providing therapeutic horseback riding to children and adults with special needs since 2003. Each week, BraveHearts welcomes more than 100 participants with various diagnoses from as far as 100 miles away.
Children and adults with various needs come to BraveHearts to discover hope, joy and unlimited possibilities through the healing power of the horse.
In 2007, BraveHearts expanded its programs to include therapeutic carriage driving. That same year, BraveHearts also began offering equine activities and therapies to wounded military veterans. BraveHearts’ veterans program is now nationally recognized as the largest by numbers program in the country.
