Hinsdale ATM Trouble Continues

A machine at the US Bank was reported damaged for the second time in just over a month, police said.

 

A downtown Hinsdale ATM was targeted for the second time in about a month, according to police.

Someone damaged an ATM at US Bank, 21 W. 2nd St., in an attempt to gain access to the machine. The incident occurred sometime between 6 p.m. March 7 and 7:45 a.m. March 8, according to a March 8 police report.

The initial incident occurred sometime between 10:33 a.m. Feb. 3 and 10 a.m. Feb. 4. A bank employee discovered scratches and pry marks on the machine on Feb. 4, and the incident was reported to the Hinsdale Police Department on Feb. 5.

During the first incident, $800 in damage was done to the machine.

In other unrelated incidents, a Northern Trust ATM was tampered with on Jan. 28 and also at Hinsdale Bank & Trust on Feb. 4. In those two cases, a number of local customers told officials from the two banks that the customers’ ATM information had been used fraudulently to withdraw money at various Chicagoland banks.
