$14K in Silverware Missing from Hinsdale Home: Police Blotter

The items were reported missing on Jan. 10, but are believed to have been taken some time in 2012.

A resident from the 800 block of South Washington Street in Hinsdale reported on Jan. 10 that five silver place settings worth a combined $14,400 went missing from her home some time between Jan. 1, 2012, and Dec. 31, 2012, according to the Hinsdale Police Department.

Though the circumstances might suggest the offense is connected to the crimes of Kenneth Jackson, a convicted thief who's been charged twice with burglary in Burr Ridge since October, Deputy Chief Mark Wodka said there's no evidence supporting that at this time.

Jackson, a 53-year-old Oak Lawn resident, was arrested near the intersection of Elm and 57th streets in Hinsdale last October and charged with a burglary that took place May 22 in the 0-10 block of Shiloh Court in Burr Ridge.

After Jackson's arrest, Hinsdale Police asked that residents check their homes to see if they were missing silverware that could possibly be matched to the pieces found on Jackson, but no one has so far come forward.

"At this time, investigators have no evidence to indicate that the silverware taken from [the Washington Street] home is related to the burglary investigation by the Burr Ridge Police Department in October of last year," Wodka said in an emailed statement. "However, this case is still open at this time and detectives will be continuing efforts to determine whether the suspect in this case may have been somebody who entered the home while it was unoccupied, or whether it was committed by persons who had authorized access to the residence during that time."

Wodka said there are currently no suspects in the Washington Street theft.
