Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn was a surgeon, clinician and researcher at the Cleveland Clinic for more than thirty five years, as a member of the board of governors and president of staff. In 1991 Dr.Esselstyn organized the first National Conference on the Elimination and Prevention of Heart Disease. In 2005 he became the first recipient of the Benjamin Spock Award for Compassion in Medicine. Drawing from his twenty-year nutritional study-the most comprehensive study of its kind, Dr. Esselstyn convincingly argues that plant-based, oil free nutrition can not only prevent and stop the disease but also reverse its effects.  He is the author of Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease.

Dr. Stephen Devries is a preventive cardiologist and Executive Director of the Gaples Institute for Integrative Cardiology, a nonprofit organization that provides leadership in the field of integrative cardiology through advocacy and education regarding the powerful role of nutrition and lifestyle changes for prevention of heart disease. he is also Associate Professor of Medicine at Northwestern University. Dr. Devries received cardiovascular subspecialty training at Washington University in St. Louis and later completed a Fellowship in Integrative Medicine wtih Dr. Andrew Weil at the University of Arizona.  Dr. Devries previously wrote a weekly column, "Heart Beat", in the Chicago Sun-Times. He authored What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Cholesterol and co-edited the textbook Integrative Cardiology.  Dr. Devries has been voted by his peers many years over as one of the "Best Doctors in America" and lectures nationally on integrative approaches to prevention of heart disease.
