Hinsdale Central to Host Mardi Gras Fundraiser
Our Fifth Annual Mardi Gras Concert is just around the corner. Come hear the Hinsdale Central High School Jazz ensembles, Hinsdale Central’s Chamber Choir and Chicago native jazz vocalist and trumpet player, Jeff Hedburg on Tuesday, February 21, 2012. 7:00 p.m. in the school’s cafeteria.
This concert is put on in conjunction with Schools Count Corp., which was founded by Dick Flesher, a retired HCHS teacher and coach who has worked tirelessly for the students in needy schools in New Orleans, Haiti and elsewhere. This year we will be raising funds for Chalmers Elementary School in Chicago. They have a music teacher but NO instruments. For more information, please go to http://www.schoolscountcorp.org/.
Admission to the event is $5 per person or $10 for the entire family. A nice deal! Dick is also asking for donations of instruments, in good playing condition, too. For those who donate an instrument you will be provided with FREE admission and Schools Count Corp will provide you a charitable tax deduction receipt. Just bring the instrument to the concert and Dick will be happy to accept it. What better way to shake the winter blues away than to partake in a night of jazz, all the while by helping Chalmers Elementary School get their program up and running.
We try to give the room a “jazz club” feel, with decorations, limited lighting, special seating and refreshments for the audience members. It has been a great success the past few years and we hope this will be our best one yet! For more information, please contact:
