      Today the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County introduced Ken Bartels of Elmhurst as the first public member of the Friends of the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County, the 501(C)(3) public charity established in 2010 to raise and administer funds to support the District’s mission of conservation, education and recreation.
     Bartels is the principal of Ken Bartels Consulting and a senior vice president and director of the Community Bank of Elmhurst. He has experience in board management, development and community relations and has participated in six successful comprehensive fundraising campaigns during his career. He serves on the Elmhurst Memorial Hospital Board of Governors and the Elmhurst Chamber of Commerce and Industry Board and is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals and the West Suburban Philanthropic Network.
     According to Forest Preserve District President D. “Dewey” Pierotti Jr., “The foundation is looking forward to working with Mr. Bartels and benefiting from his nonprofit and corporate management expertise as well as his fundraising and leadership skills.”
     The District’s Board of Commissioners plans to add five additional public members to the foundation by the end of the year.
